M2 D-bale 101st Airborne 506th 3rd Bn. PIR Helmet Front Seam Westingh Paratrooper Liner.
HELMET: WWII Front Seam D-bale shell. M2 chinstraps with early war cast buckle. The 506th 3rd Bn. insignias & Camo pattern were hand painted (BY ME) then aged & weathered to look like a "Combat Worn" helmet. Steel pot is in used but good condition.
WHY THE BIG DOTS ON THE HELMET??? Members of 3rd Bn. 506th prior to D-Day put their tics/dots in the wrong position next to the spades. Someone in command ordered the troopers to paint a white dot on the front & back of their helmets, this way 3rd battalion could be quickly identified.
***The D-bales are made from "Raw" steel & properly spot welded. ***
LINER: This is a Westinghouse liner has been restored as an Airborne model. HBT webbing, OD A-washers & nape strap. The A-yokes w/wire buckles, sweatband, liner strap & chamois lined leather chincup are top-notch aged repro's. The Drawstring helmet net is included! The liners OD Green re-paint is from the Army... not Me.
